Storyboarding is when you break down your film shot by shot in frames drawn or composed that represent how you want those shots to look like in your final product. They look a lot like a comic book really. Well, not mine. Mine look like my 4 year old could have drawn them and I think that is why I never did them until this past year. Even if you're the only one that can understand them they can benefit by helping you premeditate on the way you want to shoot something.

In many ways this can help you determine the kind of place you want to shoot and see how the scene will take place in different settings.

2011 Demo Reel

This video is something that I put together last summer. I went on a fishing trip with my Grandad and cousin, Travis to Isabel Lake in Rye, Colorado. I didn't plan on filming, but there is something special about moments like these. There is something about film that seperates it from any other media.

A picture can capture a moment but

Pueblo 24 Hour Film Festival 2011

This festival marked a year of film festivals for Sparks Bros Media. We have had some great films but this one was the biggest. By biggest I mean it had the most moving parts. When your walking around a set for a film that is supposed to be finished in 24 hours (that's shot, edited, and submitted) and you see 5 make-up artists including my wife Chrissy, Channelle Stewart, Ashley Burke, Matt Rivera, and Vincente Martinez Ortega doing body art, go-go dancer Toxiic, from Toxiic Inc. Entertainment, a DJ Cameron "ProfessorPhunk" Sanchez, with a full set-up, you start to wonder what you

Beyond the cinema

The nice thing about non-fiction film is that if you have a great story to cover, much of the hard work is already done for you. If the story is simply outstanding, like this story of Alex, the blacksmith, then no script is even needed. While there is still a lot of work involved in creating any film, Alex naturally exemplified

New website!

New to Sparks Bros Media?
